Keep it Simple

One of the key driving forces behind Widget-List is to keep the technology small and simple. Since we are running on a wearable device, the content needs to load and run quickly. The best way to ensure this happens is to give it a small amount, yet still meaningful amount of work to be done. Put simply, the HTML5 content is downloaded to the Apple Watch which runs when loaded, just like any web browser.

This is the answer to many of the questions we get about our technology stack. We used frameworks because they were mature, tested and understood by developers, and can get the job done. Projects are much easier to estimate and build when there aren't a lot of new concepts to understand and implement. We view Apple Watch as a web browser on your wrist, nothing more, nothing less.
